The total behind the headline fee

Ask for the bill in pieces before adding it up. Make the price answer as clear as the care answer.

Self-pay:
paying the bill outside insurance.

Membership and medicine can be separate

Some national online weight-care services charge a monthly fee to use their service, called a membership. In a small sample checked on September 26, 2026, medicine cost extra at the services selling memberships.

Read the limits of this fee sample

Ask what the service you are considering includes. Request the ongoing fee as well as the opening offer.

  • Does the service fee include the visit?
  • Is medicine included?
  • Are tests and shipping extra?
  • Would I owe the same fee if the visit ends without a prescription?

A real price can still be an opening offer

On September 26, 2026, semaglutide (Ozempic injection) had an advertised $199 monthly-fill offer for the first two fills.

It applied to new self-pay adults in the US at the starting strengths and ran through December 31, 2026.

The prescribed strength determined whether later monthly fills cost $349 or $499.

Government listing of the offer and its terms

Self-pay means you pay without using insurance. This offer also rules out sending the bill to your insurer for repayment later.

Your plan may require you to pay a set amount yourself before it pays; that amount is your deductible. Spending on this offer does not help you reach it.

Ask your insurance plan to explain its own payment rules.

Request a written total

Request the regular price of the proposed medicine and the care around it. Ask about refills, repeat visits and cancellation before agreeing to a plan.
